Backed by an exceptional rhythm section made up of very young musicians who have already worked with some of the biggest names on today’s jazz scene, saxophonist Roberto Pilone presents a captivating selection of original compositions, featuring a perhaps unusual and certainly intriguing sound, alongside some of the group’s favourite standards.

The balance of instability.

A quintet somewhere between jazz and experimentation, where music emerges from the tension between form and freedom, composition and improvisation, order and unpredictability. Five sonic voices meet, overlap and transform, creating ever-changing balances. Risk, listening and interaction become part of both old and new compositions: every sound can open up a new direction, and every mistake can become musical material. A concert that moves between jazz, blues, funk, free jazz and conduction, where instability is not something to be avoided, but the very space in which music takes shape.

A journey through some of the most fascinating pages of jazz and the Great American Songbook, with forays into Bossa Nova and excursions into related repertoires, reinterpreted with an intimate and elegant sensibility. The voice intertwines with the instruments in a dialogue shaped by swing, intimate atmospheres, contemporary nuances and the freedom of improvisation.

Notarius Trio was born from the meeting of three musicians who together have developed a distinctive musical language built on attentive listening, interplay and collective improvisation. Their original compositions explore a contemporary post-bop language. The trio’s sound emerges from the relationship between the three instruments, from their constant dialogue and from the freedom to let the music itself guide them in the present moment. Three distinct voices that, through listening and interaction, become a single voice. Their debut album, “Atto I”, was recorded live in one take to capture the full intensity and spontaneity of their interplay.
