Permanent exhibition

Una vita migliore.

Fragments of stories of the Children Institute of the Province of Turin.

A collaborative work of art and a testament to the history of this place and its people,

Una vita migliore takes on a new and auspicious exhibition form.

The great change that runs through the exhibition is the passage from the ephemeral to the permanent, in the hope that the work will absorb ever more deeply the history of the place that gave rise to it.

“It is no longer merely a matter of safeguarding the memory of what once was, but of enriching it with images that speak of the present as well.

Today, Una vita migliore tells of a new desire: the desire to remain.”

GAZA OPERA VIVA / OPERA VIVA IL MANIFESTO, STARGATE TO GAZA

A project that continues

the practice of artist Alessandro Bulgini, who, with his red “uniform”, becomes a signal, an indicator: a possible connection, a tenuous yet essential link.

The author thus becomes,

as Giulio Paolini once wrote, the bearer of the work: and the work itself is the context, or rather, the relationship with the context.

Site specific installation

Compassione

by Alexander Mostafa Fazari

A material typically associated with emergencies becomes a work of art: a thermal blanket, a thin golden veil, fragile and salvific at the same time, on which the egiptian artist Alexander Mostafa Fazari engraves the need of rediscovering compassion.

The artist's hand traces the words of Gibran, Rumi and Ibn Arabi with calligraphic strokes, transforming the golden reflection into a universal message of humanity.

A note on the use of expansive language

For a project like Flashback - by its very nature and poetics attentive to what lies at the margins, and to those other places, physical and mental, so often overlooked - language is a powerful means of contributing to change and a necessary instrument for observing the present.

This attention runs through everything we publish: in our publications and in our materials both online and offline. Here the reader will encounter a particular linguistic marker, the schwa (É™), which in Italian serves to limit the use of the generic masculine in favour of a broader, more open form of expression.
