A note on the use of expansive language

For a project like Flashback - by its very nature and poetics attentive to what lies at the margins, and to those other places, physical and mental, so often overlooked - language is a powerful means of contributing to change and a necessary instrument for observing the present.

This attention runs through everything we publish: in our publications and in our materials both online and offline. Here the reader will encounter a particular linguistic marker, the schwa (ə), which in Italian serves to limit the use of the generic masculine in favour of a broader, more open form of expression.
